Vulnerable Strength

Who am I? I am Vulnerable Strength. I am a Latin woman who embraces different cultures, and customs. I’m fascinated by people and am drawn to the human psyche. I seem to find humor even in the darkest place. And boy, I’ve seen some pretty dark places. Laughter is a great healer, as is music.

I am a native New Yorker born of Puerto Rican parents. Acting came natural to me because both my parents were artists in their own right. My mother was a Flamenco dancer and my dad, although a military man, was a musician who played the bongos and piano. So you can imagine my home life. Music and movies were a large part of our lives. My brother John is a very talented actor and filmmaker and my sister Amalia is a gifted dancer. As a child, my family and I moved around almost every two years. I quickly learned to adapt to new people and places. This proved to be an excellent training ground for me. I received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and a M.A. in Communications from the University of Georgia. I feel one of my best qualities as both a person and an actress is my ability to quickly connect to people. I genuinely like people… except on the freeway.

Since I came to Los Angeles, I have worked on over 40 episodics, dozens of commercials, Indies, industrials and many many equity-waiver plays. I have been fortunate to work with some amazing directors, actors, acting coaches and even casting directors! Currently, I’m studying with the amazing Ivana Chubbuck. She has the gift to make actors dig deeper than ever imagined. What I love most about acting is the challenge of breathing life into the words that the writer has written and creating a visual story. My favorite roles to play are the ones where I can use my sense of humor, or strength and compassion as an advocate, friend, counselor, or mentor. I play different nationalities well and feel my extensive traveling background is an asset in playing various roles. I am a passionate person by nature and I like to use that passion in my work. One of the best examples of passion put to good use was by the late Raul Julia. Que talento!

A bit about my family life, I’m married to a very tall Serbian, aren’t they all, who grounds my restless soul. We have two beautiful Serborican boys who teach me so much and allow me to continue to play and have fun. In return, I have to be soccer/basketball mom. It’s all good.
